Steam steal home ice from Posse

The Gove brothers stepped up to lead the Summerland Steam to a 4-2 win over the Posse in Princeton Friday night.

 

Mitchell Gove led the Steam with a pair of goals, while older brother Linden sniped the winner with 3:37 remaining in regulation time. The Steam have taken a 2-1 series lead on the Posse in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League playoffs.

 

Cody Swan and Dawson Jenner set up Mitchell Gove to open the scoring at 18:48 of the first. He hit the scoresheet again at 8:54 of the second frame. Also scoring for the Steam was Swan, who finished with a three-point night. Jenner finished with two assists.

 

Steam goalie Eric Scherger picked up his second straight win, stopping 25 of 27 shots. The Devon, Alta., product has a 2.73 goals against average and .894 save percentage in 154 minutes of action.
