Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week: Feb. 27

 

Hayden Stocks of the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, Cole Waldbillig of the Summerland Steam and Ethan Lawczynski of the Castlegar Rebels have been named the Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week.

Stocks – Top Forward – The Edmonton, Alberta product helped the Nitehawks take a 3-1 series lead on the Creston Valley Thunder Cats by scoring four goals and adding five assists for nine points, including two game-winners. Stocks netted the winner for the Nitehawks in Game 2, a 7-1 victory, and Game 4, a 4-3 final. The rookie, who received the Top Scorer Award for the Neil Murdoch Division, leads the KIJHL in playoff points.

Waldbillig – Top Defenceman – The West Kelowna product put up three goals and four assists for seven points to help the Steam take a 3-1 lead on the Kelowna Chiefs. Of Waldbillig’s three goals, one is a winner, which came in double overtime of Game 1. Waldbillig leads all defencemen in points for the playoffs. In 43 games, Waldbillig had 24 points.

Lawczynski – Top Goalie – The Castlegar native has led his hometown Rebels with three wins in four games against the Nelson Leafs. In back-to-back home wins, Lawczysnki turned aside 82 of 85 shots in 4-2 and 3-1 Rebels victories. In the four games, the six-foot-four, 170-pound goalie has stopped 136 of 143 shots for a .951 SP and a 1.75 GAA.
